For this week’s blog, I wanted to do something a little bit different and share a new website a colleague referred me to recently. It’s called ‘Thumbtack’ and can be found at www.thumbtack.com. What makes this site different? As a consumer, it puts just about all of the ‘research’ into someone else’s hands. Examples of what you can find on Thumbtack include painters, tutors, and DJ’s. When you reach out to Thumbtack for a service you need, they notify any professionals who have signed up for your category within the distance/location they’ve indicated they’re willing to travel to. The consumer then can sit back and not only wait for the individuals/companies of interest to notify them, but also notify them WITH PRICES! Up to 5 quotes are allowed and must be done so within 24 hours. So when I receive a notification there is a client who needs a videographer for a particular date, I have 24 hours to submit a quote if I’m available but must make sure I’m also quick enough to not be 6th or later on that quote list.
From there, a customer will review the quotes, review sample work, and even reviews. They then decide who they want to contact for further information and hopefully contract. It can be lots of fun and for me has been a very exciting new venture! I encourage all of you to give it a try for your outstanding wedding (or other needs).
